DR. DEVIN HUSSONG

Doctor of Clinical Psychology

Dr. Hussong has lived and worked in the Lehigh Valley area for over a decade now, providing psychological services to a variety of populations including children, teenagers, and adults. His approach to therapy is informed by multiple schools of thought, and Dr. Hussong strives to accommodate the unique needs of each client. His primary theoretical orientation is Psychodynamic, which is informed by Contextualist, Systemic, Multicultural, and Solution-Focused models. Dr. Hussong believes that a collaborative therapeutic relationship is essential to establish trust, help clients achieve greater awareness, and to promote meaningful change.

Dr. Hussong earned his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology (and also obtained his K-5 teaching certificate in PA) from Moravian College in 2008. Dr. Hussong completed his Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Clinical Psychology in May 2013 from Chestnut Hill College, and completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from Chestnut Hill College in 2017. His doctoral dissertation qualitatively explored therapists’ perceptions of humor in psychotherapy, and in recent years he has published articles and book reviews in the journal of constructivist psychology. Dr. Hussong has worked in a variety of clinical settings including adolescent inpatient and outpatient programs, clinical and forensic private practices, college counseling centers, and most recently, the Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals in Lyons, New Jersey and Augusta, Maine.

Dr. Hussong has provided psychotherapeutic and psychological assessment services to individuals struggling with PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, attention deficit and impulsivity issues, adjustment disorders, cognitive-impairments, personality disorders, survivors of sexual assault, family-related issues, drug or alcohol struggles, terminal illnesses, and existential concerns. He provides individual, couples, family, and group therapy services. Dr. Hussong also conducts psychological testing, and routinely utilizes instruments which measure cognitive ability, provide diagnostic clarification, or which determine client’s decision-making capacity.

When not conducting psychotherapy, Dr. Hussong enjoys spending time with his friends and family, vacationing in Maine, reading, writing, and composing music. He also produces and directs short films, teaches a college course here and there, presents at psychological seminars, and publishes articles from time to time.

Dr. Hussong now joins his colleagues at Otto Psychological Associates, LLC to assist in providing optimal mental health care services to the greater Lehigh Valley area.
